Ecological responsibility

The last one out
turns off the lights

We take our environmental responsibility particularly seriously within our company boundaries. We are committed to sustainable practices, reducing our ecological footprint and promoting the responsible use of resources. Our commitment includes minimising waste, using energy and water efficiently and promoting recycling and reuse measures. In this way, we actively contribute to protecting our environment.

Short, shorter – better!

Our locations in Germany include three production plants and nine sales branches. This nationwide network means that we are always close to our customers. In addition to the high availability of our services, our geographical spread also has another advantage: we can keep distances relatively short. This is also good for the environment!

14,000 m2 of future!

With maximised space, seven docking points for HGVs, a fully automated small parts warehouse with 19,500 containers and nine robots, we have not only expanded our service quality even further in 2023 but, with our new logistics centre, we have also reduced our ecological footprint. This is because the new building, which is directly connected to the production building, brings spare parts and finished goods logistics together under one roof, thereby shortening distances. At the same time, the building in Bad Oldesloe is designed to meet the requirements of efficiency house level 40 (KfW 40). For example, a large part of the energy requirement is covered by a 150 kWp photovoltaic system in conjunction with an air heat pump with heat recovery. Clean business!

Better from next door

We value short transport routes and a regional supply chain. This is why almost 76 % of our production materials come from suppliers in Germany. A further 20 % comes from other European countries, which means that only 4 % of our procurement budget is attributed to non-European countries. At all times, we maintain a level playing field and fair contractual conditions. We ensure compliance with social standards by means of comprehensive risk monitoring.

Our goal: to make Hako's operations more environmentally sustainable!

Our aim is to reduce our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions even further in the coming years – and take further measures to reduce waste and water consumption through pilot projects at various locations. We have already achieved the following from 2021 to 2022:

Energy consumption

minus
2,000,000 kWh

CO2 emissions

minus
500,000 kg

Water consumption

Amount of fresh water =
amount of recycled water

Amount of waste

> 80 % recycled,
< 1 % landfilled

We as the Hako Group have joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in order to develop a science-based climate protection target for ourselves. To this end, we are currently in the process of validating our target together with the SBTi. With this public commitment, we are underlining our general commitment to sustainable action and want to make our contribution to meeting internationally recognised climate protection targets.

Ecological sustainable business management is a fine thing.
We are also getting better in this respect:
